About

OMECO S.r.l. is an accredited Italian testing, inspection and calibration laboratory founded in 1971 and, since 2019, part of ICIM Group, a holding that positions itself as a single partner for companies needing certification, training, consultancy and testing of materials, products, plants, processes, competences and management systems. With more than fifty years of operating history, OMECO describes itself as one of the most established neutral and independent ("neutrale e indipendente") test laboratories in Italy, specialised in tests, testing, instrument calibration and 360° controls intended to guarantee suitability, safety and conformity of materials, components, products, machinery and plants. The laboratory serves manufacturers, EPC contractors, plant operators and industrial buyers who need third-party verification of mechanical integrity, material conformity and process quality.

The core of OMECO's offering is non-destructive testing (controlli non distruttivi, CND/NDT). Its accredited and certified methods include visual examination (Esame Visivo), liquid penetrant testing (Liquidi Penetranti, PT), magnetic particle inspection (Magnetoscopico, MT), ultrasonic testing (Ultrasuoni, UT) including thickness gauging (spessimetrico), eddy current testing (Correnti Indotte, ET), radiographic testing (Radiografico, RT) with film and digital image reading, and industrial computed tomography (Tomografia industriale computerizzata, CT X-Ray scan). OMECO is a CICPND examination centre (Centro d'Esame N° 002/E) for the qualification of NDT personnel, with technicians certified to Level 2 in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9712; it is also an examination centre for the qualification of operators performing non-destructive controls by the tomographic method.

Alongside NDT, OMECO operates a destructive and analytical materials testing laboratory offering mechanical and technological tests (tensile, hardness, impact and related properties), chemical and metallographic analyses, leak testing (Ricerca Fughe / leak test), burst testing, corrosion testing, failure analysis (Failure Analysis) and special tests. The laboratory supports welding (Saldatura) qualification, qualification of special processes (Qualifica processi speciali), and qualifications for Additive Manufacturing — an area developed jointly by ICIM Group and CIM. These capabilities make OMECO a credible partner for metallurgical, weldments and component evaluation across the full product lifecycle.

A dedicated metrology and instrument calibration laboratory (Laboratorio di Metrologia e Taratura Strumenti) provides instrument calibration and metrology training (Corso di Metrologia). For the construction sector, OMECO runs a building-materials testing laboratory (Laboratorio prove materiali da costruzione), assesses construction products (Prodotti da costruzione), and offers structural diagnostics and monitoring (Diagnostica strutturale e Monitoraggio) together with technical assistance for property due diligence (Due Diligence Immobiliare). It also provides plant verifications, residual-life analysis and life-extension assessments, post-damage technical assistance, preliminary checks and commissioning verifications, production control, pre-delivery control, quality control resident inspection, and product and material conformity assessments.

The group's TIFQlab is a center for experimentation, research and applied analysis in food technologies and drinking water, providing technical-scientific support to companies in evaluating the hygienic and construction-related risks of materials and processes. Within this scope OMECO performs testing for the Drinking Water Directive (DWD) on components and materials in contact with potable water, and Omeco Lifetech is accredited for testing to the WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) materials standard — relevant for manufacturers of taps, valves, fittings and water-network components.

OMECO is accredited by ACCREDIA, Italy's national accreditation body, to UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 under laboratory accreditation N° 0003 (the company notes it was among the first Italian laboratories to apply the standard), and holds calibration-centre accreditation LAT N° 090. ACCREDIA accreditation attests to the competence and impartiality of its personnel, the independence of its activities, and the adequacy of its instrumentation and equipment. OMECO promotes that it offers among the highest number of accredited tests in its sectors. It has further been recognised as a laboratory authorised by Romania's National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control, reflecting its role in nuclear-safety and compliance work, and it participates actively in industry conferences such as ECNDT (Verona) and the AMPP Conference & Expo (Genoa).

Operationally, OMECO maintains multiple facilities in northern Italy, with locations associated with Monza/Muggiò (Monza-Brianza), the Milan area (Sesto San Giovanni), and Albano S. Alessandro (Bergamo). Its combination of long operating history, ACCREDIA ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, CICPND personnel-qualification status, broad NDT and materials-testing scope, metrology and calibration services, and integration within ICIM Group make OMECO a credible, independent testing partner for mechanical, energy, construction, water and advanced-manufacturing applications.
