21 CFR 111

The FDA's Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for dietary supplements - the rulebook for testing and quality.

21 CFR Part 111 is the section of federal regulation that lays out current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements for dietary supplements. It governs identity, purity, strength, and composition testing for raw materials, in-process, and finished products.

There's no small-business exemption - it applies whether you're a one-person brand or a 500-employee facility. The most-cited violation is failing to establish written product specifications. Brand owners are responsible even when a contract manufacturer does the production.
