Testing labs in Lacq

1 qualified lab in Lacq.

Société Béarnaise de Gestion Industrielle (SOBEGI) is a French industrial services company headquartered in Mourenx, in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department (64) in southwestern France. A subsidiary of TotalEnergies, SOBEGI was established to manage and operate two major shared-services industrial platforms in the Lacq Basin: Induslacq at Lacq and Chem'pôle 64 at Mourenx. The company employs approximately 236 people and provides comprehensive on-site industrial services to around 18 industrial tenants across the two platforms, covering utility supply, shared process services, industrial safety training, and specialist laboratory analysis. At the heart of SOBEGI's analytical offer is the Laboratoire Contrôle et Environnement (LCE) — its Control and Environment Laboratory — which operates from within the Induslacq platform in the Lacq Basin. The LCE provides three core service lines: manufacturing controls and quality checks for production processes, industrial and environmental analyses for resident companies and external clients, and hygiene measurements in working atmospheres. Its position embedded within a large and chemically complex industrial site gives the laboratory an unusually direct connection to the needs of petrochemical, gas processing, and specialty-chemical operators. The LCE is accredited by COFRAC (Comité Français d'Accréditation), France's national accreditation body and a signatory of the EA and ILAC multilateral agreements, under reference number 1-2198 in accordance with the NF EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Accreditation scope covers two technical domains: LAB GTA 05, physicochemical analysis of waters, and LAB GTA 64, analysis and testing of petroleum products and derivatives. The full scope of accredited tests is published on the COFRAC website (www.cofrac.fr). This ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation confirms the technical competence and impartiality of the laboratory's testing operations and underpins the legal and regulatory acceptance of its results by French and European authorities. In the field of water analysis, the LCE performs physicochemical characterization of industrial process waters, wastewater effluents, and environmental water bodies in accordance with the LAB GTA 05 accredited scope. Parameters routinely addressed include pH, conductivity, turbidity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), nitrogen species, sulfur compounds, heavy metals, and other regulated contaminants relevant to effluent discharge compliance, industrial process monitoring, and environmental impact assessment. SOBEGI's deep involvement in the environmental management of the Lacq Basin — where complex sulfur-bearing streams and hydrocarbon effluents create demanding analytical requirements — has shaped an analytical team with specialist expertise in difficult industrial matrices. For petroleum and petrochemical analysis, the LCE holds COFRAC accreditation under LAB GTA 64 for the analysis and testing of petroleum products and derivatives. The laboratory is recognised as the only COFRAC-accredited laboratory in France for certain sulfur analyses within this domain — a distinction that has enabled agribusiness manufacturers to certify petroleum refinery by-products as raw materials for animal nutrition, underpinned by legally accepted analytical certificates. Petroleum testing capabilities include characterization of fuels, process streams, and industrial by-products, encompassing determinations of sulfur content, density, viscosity, and other physicochemical properties relevant to product specifications and regulatory acceptance. Workplace atmosphere measurement forms a third axis of LCE activity, supporting occupational hygiene programs for companies operating on the Induslacq and Chem'pôle 64 platforms. Assessments of worker exposure to chemical agents — including volatile organic compounds, sulfur compounds, and other airborne hazards characteristic of petrochemical environments — are conducted in compliance with French occupational health regulations and relevant European directives. These measurements feed directly into site-level risk management programs and are integral to SOBEGI's broader SEVESO site safety framework. Sobegi holds a comprehensive set of management system certifications that reinforce the quality, safety, and environmental credentials of its laboratory services. In addition to the NF EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation held by the LCE, the company is certified to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 50001 (energy management). SOBEGI also holds MASE certification (Manuel d'Amélioration Sécurité des Entreprises — the French industrial contractor safety management standard), which is required for operations on high-threshold SEVESO-classified sites, reflecting the safety-critical industrial context in which the laboratory operates. Embedded within two of France's most significant SEVESO industrial platforms in the historic Lacq Basin, the LCE offers a rare combination of technical depth in chemically challenging matrices, rigorous COFRAC accreditation, and operational proximity to the petrochemical, gas-processing, and specialty-chemical sectors it serves. Its dual competence in physicochemical water analysis and petroleum product testing — augmented by occupational exposure monitoring — positions it as a specialist reference laboratory for industrial operators, environmental compliance managers, and quality teams in southwestern France and beyond.
