About
Vimta Labs Limited is a pioneering full-service Contract Research and Testing Organization (CRO/CTO) headquartered in Hyderabad, India, with operations established in 1984. Over four decades the company has grown into one of India's most comprehensive independent testing institutions, employing more than 1,100 scientists and industry professionals across a national network of laboratories. Vimta serves clients spanning pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food and beverage, nutraceuticals, agriculture, environmental monitoring, medical devices, consumer electronics, and specialty chemicals, offering end-to-end testing and research support that spans discovery through regulatory submission and routine quality control. The organization has processed samples for over 25,000 customers from more than 45 countries, underscoring its scale and global reach.
In pharmaceutical and life-sciences testing, Vimta provides cGMP-compliant analytical laboratory services covering the complete product development lifecycle from early development through commercial manufacturing and post-market surveillance. Services encompass method development and validation, raw-material identity and purity testing, finished-product release testing, stability studies (ICH guidelines), biologics and biosimilar characterization, packaging compatibility, and extractables and leachables analysis. The preclinical division, housed at its Genome Valley Life Sciences Campus in Shameerpet, Hyderabad, is OECD GLP-certified (NGCMA certificate valid 2024–2027) and AAALAC accredited, enabling toxicology and safety pharmacology data to be accepted by global regulatory agencies including the USFDA, EMA, and WHO. The clinical research division supports bioanalytical work for Phase I–IV trials and holds high-throughput capacity for large sample volumes with rapid turnaround times.
Food, beverage, nutraceutical, and dietary supplement testing represents another major pillar of Vimta's service portfolio. The laboratory network — spanning seven locations across India including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Noida, Nellore, Nashik, and Mumbai — is NABL accredited and recognized as an approved National Reference Laboratory by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for testing of water and beverages. Analytes routinely tested include pesticide residues, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury), allergens, antibiotic residues, banned dyes and colors, mycotoxins, food additives, water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, nutritional composition (macronutrients, calories, fiber, sugar), microbial contaminants, and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH), mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH), and polyolefin oligomeric saturated hydrocarbons (POSH). Additional food-science capabilities include DNA sequencing for food authentication and species identification, HFSS (high fat, salt, and sugar) analysis, shelf-life and food packaging testing, and identification of unknown substances by mass spectrometry. The laboratory has contributed to national food safety initiatives including the National Milk Quality Survey.
Environmental testing at Vimta covers water (drinking water, wastewater, surface water), soil, sediment, ambient air, stack emissions, and industrial effluents. The environmental division holds NABET accreditation (certificate valid 2023–2026) as well as NABL accreditation, ISO 45001:2018 certification for occupational health and safety management, and recognition from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Testing is performed to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and international methods, supporting regulatory compliance for industrial clients and environmental impact assessments. Vimta also provides agriculture and crop-care testing, including pesticide residue analysis in raw agricultural commodities, soil testing, and crop-protection product characterization.
Vimta's EMTAC Laboratory division provides electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing, environmental and reliability testing, radio frequency (RF) testing, and product safety testing for consumer electronics, IT equipment, medical devices, avionics, automotive systems, industrial and control equipment, and military products. EMTAC holds NABL and NABCB accreditation and is recognized by BIS and TEC India. It was the first laboratory in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to receive accreditation for IT product safety testing. Radiated emission testing ranges from 30 Hz to 40 GHz, conducted emission from 30 Hz to 30 MHz, and harmonic and flicker emission testing is available for loads up to 300 V and 32 A per phase. The division also handles CE marking certification, BIS certification testing, and physical security product certification under ISO/IEC 17065.
Vimta Labs holds an exceptionally broad set of accreditations and regulatory approvals that substantiate its credibility as a testing partner for regulated industries. For pharmaceutical operations: NABL accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025 aligned), Drug Control Administration (DCA) licensing, EMA certification, and multiple USFDA Establishment Inspection Reports (EIRs) confirming successful FDA inspections. For food and environmental operations: NABL, FSSAI National Reference Lab status, APEDA recognition, Agmark authorization, Tea Board authorization, and BIS recognition. The preclinical facility is certified under OECD GLP principles and carries AAALAC accreditation, satisfying the requirements of international regulatory submissions. The clinical pathology laboratory is accredited by both the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and NABL to ISO 15189. Across all divisions, Vimta has undergone more than 70 regulatory audits by authorities from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states (Germany, France), Australia, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, Ukraine, and India, with inspection records that include USFDA, MHRA, WHO, ANVISA, and NPRA.
Vimta Labs operates from two principal campuses in Hyderabad — the registered office and central analytical laboratory at 142, IDA Phase II, Cherlapally (Hyderabad 500 051) and the Life Sciences Campus at Neovantage Innovation Parks, Genome Valley, Shameerpet (Hyderabad 500 101) — along with a national network of food testing laboratories in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Noida, Nellore, Nashik, and Mumbai, and clinical diagnostics centres across multiple locations in Hyderabad and other Indian cities. This multi-site infrastructure allows Vimta to offer regional sample collection and rapid turnaround across India while maintaining centralized analytical oversight for complex regulated testing.
